Thank you for downloading OpenInsight for Linux (OIL). This is an evaluation of OpenInsight 7.2.1 and it will run on Red Hat or Debian. If you are running other flavors of Linux, please contact Revelation Software to see if we have tested OIL with your platform. Red Hat Installs If you are running on Red Hat, you will need a minimum of Red Hat 8.0 to run OIL. Copy the downloaded file to the directory of your choosing. To install the application on your Red Hat machine, you will need to run the command: rpm -i openinsight-7.2.1-1.i386.rpm Once OpenInsight is successfully installed, OpenInsight can be launched using the command: oinsight Please see the OpenInsight Quick Start Guide for information on how to use OpenInsight. ********** Debian Installs If you are running on Debian, you will need to be at the "Sarge" version to run OIL. To install the application on your Debian machine, you will need to run the command: dpkg -i openinsight_7.1.1_i386.deb Once this is successfully installed, OpenInsight can be launched using the command: oinsight Please see the OpenInsight Quick Start Guide for information on how to use OpenInsight. ********** Printing In order to print using OIL you will need a PostScript printer and KGhostView installed. OIL will generate information and send it to the /tmp directory, where it will be viewed or printed as appropriate. By default, OIL prints using /usr/sbin/kghostview. If you wish to change the default viewer, you need to modify the oinsight.ini. Replace the path pointing to kghostview with the path to your preferred viewer.
