Welcome to this first edition of the Revelation EMEA region e-newsletter for 2008. This year looks set to be a busy time for everyone in the Revelation community. We continue to see many of our VARs applications become dominant in their fields, continued interest in OpenInsight from users around the world running character based MultiValue systems and a number of new OpenInsight based systems being rolled out.
We plan to be busy as well, especially with the planned 8.1 release that will include both new features and new technology for anyone looking to exploit the Web and AJAX. More highlights on 8.1 later.
Everyone at Revelation extends their best wishes to you for 2008 and prosperity for the whole year.

As we embark upon another new year, Revelation Software has many enhancements and new features that are scheduled for the OpenInsight 8.1 release later this year. Just a few of the new developments driven by OpenInsight developer and user feedback include:
A brand New Form Designer, with a new look and feel and more exposed properties.
New and enhanced .NET functionality and .NET enhancements to OIPI.
Support for DEP (Data Execution Protection) always on!
A New feature rich System Editor+.
A New optional application Manager that will resemble other modern IDEs.
A move to bundle a Revelation Network product as part of OpenInsight's Server Deployment Packs.
The release of WebOI - a brand new OI Web enablement and development toolkit featuring AJAX.
Plus lots more.
However, with all of these exciting developments coming down the pipeline, we still need your valuable input regarding your specific requirements . . .
Both the www.revsoft.co.uk and www.revelation.com web sites are packed with pages information giving our developers and customers information about Revelation, the entire product line and a host of technical resources.
However, tucked away in the private WORKS area is the bug tracker and suggestion forum. This section of our web site provides all of our WORKS developers with an easy to use central repository to report issues that they come across within our products. It also provides a central resource where developers can suggest new features that they require or technologies that they need OpenInsight to support.
It is this area that is now primarily driving new development within OpenInsight. The bug tracker is checked continuously monitored and is always a topic of discussion within the company's weekly planning meeting. The suggestions section is a key area of feedback when planning for new OpenInsight and network product releases.
We urge all of our WORKS subscribers to take a few minutes to review the new interface and to bookmark the web page in their browser, ready to use when a potential bug is found or a new feature is required. Please simply log into the web site (if you are a current WORKS member) and click the 'OpenInsight Bug Tracker & Suggestion Box' link to go to the new 'Issue Tracking and Resolution System'.

Many people new to OpenInsight ask “What is the best way to easily populate a combo box control at runtime using data from a data table, or through a stored procedure.”
Like most things in OpenInsight this is easily achieved and it is much easier than most people realise. It entails the use of just one line of code placed in the Combo Box's Item field at design time.
Around the globe we are seeing more and more DOS ARev applications being converted to the Windows 32-bit environment using Arev32, either as they are now or as character/GUI hybrid applications.
There is no better time to make the move to Windows Call Martyn on +44 (0)20 8912 1003 for further details and a FREE WebEx demo.
