OpenInsight's ODBC Driver
Revelation's ODBC driver enables ODBC compliant applications, such as Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft Access, to read OpenInsight's MultiValue Linear Hash data. However, the driver is only read-only and the contents of the OpenInsight (or Advanced Revelation) tables can be accessed but not updated through the driver.
ODBC is a de-facto standard for passing data back and forth between different Windows-based applications. The Revelation ODBC Driver makes use of OpenInsight's internal SQL processing to quickly and correctly normalise any MultiValued data that is requested.
The installation provides a fixed number of ODBC connections to the OpenInsight Database at any point in time. The driver needs to be installed on the workstations that will be accessing your OpenInsight databases using the ODBC-compliant database and it can be configured either as a System or User DSN. It is licensed on a per user, per serial number basis.
A Technical Note:
The Revelation ODBC Driver is for OpenInsight versions 7.1 and above. Please refer to the ODBC Driver practical tips page for more details about using the ODBC Driver with earlier vrsions of OpenInsight and Advanced Revelation applications.
