Revelation Windows 2000 Service for Windows based systems. The Revelation NT Service version 2.1 is for use with Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 networks where older (Windows '98 and prior) workstations are being used and therefore the Universal Driver can not be used. Who should purchase the Revelation Windows 2000 Service 2.1? Anyone who is running OpenInsight (16-bit) or Advanced Revelation on a Microsoft server based network and currently do not have any Revelation network products installed, or anyone who is planning on moving from a Novell Network to a Microsoft Network.Anyone who is using the NT/2000 Service 1.5 or below but who want to increase the speed of the product, or cannot use Named Pipes any longer. Why should you Purchase the Windows 2000 Service 2.1? | | Protection from data corruption. Data corruption can occur for a variety of reasons, including bad cabling, power fluctuations, hardware errors, no record locking, or if a user aborts a process. Often it is impossible to predict or prevent such events. The Revelation Network Products enable you to protect against data corruption when such events do occur by recognizing that an error occurred and notifying the user, while protecting the data table from incomplete transactions, virtually eliminating data corruption errors (Group Format Errors). | | | | Increased speed performance. The Revelation Network Products are designed to enable database activity to be off-loaded onto the file server. This architecture dramatically reduces the amount of network requests. The reduction of network requests translates to increased performance. Benchmarks show a dramatic performance increase on local area networks (LANs), and an even greater increase on wide area networks (WANs). | | | | Reduced Downtime Costs mount very quickly when your users can't use the system. The real cost of data corruption is the downtime created while the appropriate back-ups are found and restored. If the system can't be restored with a recent back-up, the information must be re-entered, taking additional precious resources. |

If I have a network with some older Win 9x machines and some Win NT/2000 machines, can I mix connections in the same application? No you cannot mix connections within an application, but you do have some choice when running both OpenInsight and Advanced Revelation on the same server. For instance, you could set up OI to use the Named Pipes and TCP/IP connection, but have Advanced Revelation connect using only Named Pipes. | |
